Tandy 1000TX (1984-1993)
The Tandy 1000TX was closely related to the original Tandy 1000, sharing an external keyboard and a similar casing. However, its most significant difference lies in the use of an Intel 80286 CPU. Essentially, the Tandy 1000TX retained many features of the Tandy 1000, including the unique parallel port edge connector.
Additionally, during that period, two other models were introduced:
- Tandy 1000 SX: An upgraded version of the original Tandy 1000, utilizing a similar chassis.
- Tandy 1000 EX: A one-piece machine with a built-in keyboard and a proprietary expansion bus.
The Tandy 1000 series played a crucial role in providing affordable yet capable home computing systems, with features like graphics, sound, and joystick ports making them appealing for home use.
